About Us

Do you enjoy going to the doctors’?

At Southbank Plastic Surgery Centre, you will. From the moment you step into the clinic, you will know you have arrived at a practice with a difference. The natural colour tones and artwork will make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Our welcoming staff are there to put you at ease throughout the process.

This has been my principal plastic surgery practice in Melbourne for over 15 years. I offer a unique and holistic approach to surgical methods for skin and body rejuvenation. It’s different to other services on offer because I will be your doctor and involved in your care from the consultation to treatment to post-operative visits. At your initial consultation, I am not in the business of selling dreams, which means that you will have a realistic plan for improvements that will work.

If surgery is not right for you, you can access our co-located service, Southbank Dermal Aesthetics Medispa. In conjunction with Lynn Kaye (BHSc, CDT – Dermal Clinician), we offer non-surgical cosmetic treatment options such as fillers and skin treatments. Mr Brett Archer MBBS, FRACS

Specialist Plastic Surgeon

My training in Plastic Surgery began after two years of General Surgery training at Royal Melbourne Hospital, with four years of Victorian training. Then, I spent a year in Brisbane honing my micro-surgical skills for head and neck cancer reconstruction. This was followed by stints in London and New York focusing on facial cosmetic surgery.

My current practice has a particular interest in non-surgical facial rejuvenation, which stemmed from my experience in treating facial fat wasting in HIV treated patients (which can be a side effect of some medications). I spent 15 years as a consultant at the Alfred Hospital treating patients with this condition.

I operate at Epworth Cliveden Hospital in East Melbourne and Stonnington Day Surgery Centre in Malvern.

Specialties:

  • Breast Surgery – Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, Breast Reduction
  • Cosmetic Facial Surgery – Face lift, Neck lift, Rhinoplasty, Eyelid Surgery
  • Cosmetic Body Surgery – Abdominoplasty, Liposuction
  • Skin surgery – Skin cancers, Scar revision, Benign lesions
  • Injectable treatments – Soft-tissue fillers, Wrinkle reduction therapies

Philosophy

Your time is important. Our appointment times are unusually accurate, and your punctuality is appreciated and reciprocated.

If your condition is not urgent, there may be a waiting time of several weeks for an appointment. If you have a skin cancer requiring urgent treatment, we will arrange an appropriate earlier time as soon as we receive your GP's referral via fax or email.

$

Our aim is not to be the most expensive practice in town! In fact, you'll find our injectable treatments cost less than many performed by less qualified and experienced practitioners.

Whether it is surgical, or non-surgical treatment, our aim for you is to look refreshed and relaxed, not pulled and plumped. When injectable products are used, small amounts of product are the usual practice.

The day after leaving hospital you will usually receive a follow up phone call from Mr Archer to see how you are going, and answer any questions about your recovery.

High quality results and happy patients are important to us. If you experience an uneven result from injectables (a very rare occurrence) we will see you within the next few days to correct it at no further charge. Any necessary revisions of surgical procedures (again rare) are done with the aim to minimise further costs to you.
